Tara had to move out of her home in a matter of weeks because the landlord had sold the home from under her. Since she had so little time and 2 small children to attend to, she went through a quick search of flats in the vicinity and settled on a newly constructed block of flats. She thought she had been pretty lucky with the find, and at such short notice. Busy Tara quickly signed a contract and paid the deposit, then moved on to attending to a host of other things she had to do ahead of the move. She also failed to realize she needed to book an appointment with a moving company or service to help her on the intended date to move.
A few days to her vacation notice, Tara suddenly recognized the need to make plans to move all her belongings. She did another hurried search online and settled for the first moving service that picked her call. The hired moving van showed up on the day of the move and things seemed to be going fine, until they arrived at her new place. It became obvious, pretty quickly, that the apartment block was ill-conceived and no piece of furniture could be carried through the door way and staircase. This meant everything including her glass dining set had to be lifted through a balcony on the upper floor of the building.
Tara became extremely frustrated. Because of her rushed searches. She had not taken the time to consider many factors, which was unfortunately a huge obstacle during the move. She had a mind to reject the flat and began to yell at the agent for the new flat for her money back. Eventually she came to accept her mistakes as well when the agent contemptuously responded, saying “Madam, didn’t you come and inspect out your new apartment before confirming? There is no refund!”
She had no choice but to move in and had to get extra hands to help her lift her items over the balcony. This cost her more money, and because the added work was not planned and handled by professionals, she had a few items banged up and damaged including her precious glass dining set. Tara promised herself never again to rush any move and that the next time; she would do her due diligence, adequately researching and proper planning ahead of time.
